THINGS I LEARNED WHILE LEARNING MEDICINE-71

-The right person in your life is the one that allows you to be open, seen, heard, and understood in your most vulnerable, darkest, and most difficult moments.

- Surround yourself with people that are good for your mental health, heart, and soul.

-The power of your words contributes to the reality you live in.

-We will defend ourselves against those who say horrible things about us and to us, yet we say worse things to ourselves and about ourselves.

-There are words we would never say to people we care about or love, yet we whisper so many worse words to ourselves.

-Words you allow in from yourself can perpetuate low self-esteem and shatter your dreams; your words can build dreams, build self-confidence, and can change the lives of others; you can use your inner words to create the life that you want and live or the life that you do not wish to.

-Embrace change and welcome new challenges.

-The thought that I saved someone’s life never comes to my mind; no time to feel proud, or reflect, because you are so focused and intensely working on the next patient’s life.

-During my mid-career, my most significant moments were giving my best effort for the life of others, living and working, and giving for something greater than oneself.

-Do as many things as possible because you never truly know the many things you can do in life.
