THINGS I LEARNED WHILE LEARNING MEDICINE-95

1: Dads believe in your daughters, and they will learn to believe in themselves.

2. Have a purpose in your life, and expect many to have an opinion contradictory to your vision.

3. Align your actions with your values.

4: When you think about your career, ask yourself, “Am I hungry? Or do I just want to eat?”.

5: I do not see the faces of the thousands of patients’ lives I have saved over my career; I see the faces of the patients who died despite my best efforts.

6: It is so much more important in life to be consistently reliable than occasionally extraordinary.

7: The world quickly forgets your best efforts and judges you for your worst.

8: Never forget those people who came into your life and listened even when you had nothing to say.

9: Remember those in your life that stuck around even when you pushed them away.

10-Silence is not always a weakness; it can also represent restraint.
